The future of progress: Audi at Milan Design Week

For Audi, the term “re-generation” describes its vision of progress in tomorrow’s world – for the good of the planet, society and every individual. Audi is showcasing this conviction at this year’s Milan Design Week.

Progress means more than advancing design and technology: Cutting-edge solutions need to work beyond the here and now. Audi firmly believes that progress should aim towards comprehensive regeneration, taking into account environmental and social objectives without losing sight of the uniqueness of every individual.

Re-generate our planet

Audi is unequivocal – the future of mobility is electric. By 2025, Audi plans to have a portfolio of more than 20 all-electric models. If electric vehicles are consistently charged with green electricity, their carbon emissions are zero. The Group is committed to developing and making renewable energy available, including through the Volkswagen Group’s wind farm in Germany’s Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania region. The current Audi e-tron models not only produce zero emissions on the road locally, but can also be handed over to customers at dealerships in Europe and the U.S. as a net carbon neutral² product.

In addition, through its Mission:Zero programme, Audi is contributing to decarbonisation, resource efficiency and biodiversity as well as minimising water consumption across the entire value chain. The aim is to achieve climate-neutral production by 2025, coupled with closed-loop materials management. For example, both the exterior and interior of the Audi Q4 e-tron have up to 27 components that contain recycled material. Production at the Four Rings’ European plants is already 100 percent powered by green energy.

Audi Q4 e-tron: Power consumption (combined) in kWh/100 km: 19.5–16.2CO₂ emissions (combined) in g/km: 0CO₂ emission class: A

²Audi defines net carbon neutrality as a status where, despite having exploited other possible reduction measures in relation to CO2 emissions caused by our products or activities, remaining and/or currently unavoidable CO2 emissions in connection with the supply chain, manufacturing or recycling of our vehicles are, at least in terms of quantity, offset by voluntary compensation projects worldwide. CO2 emissions generated during the operational phase of a vehicle (i.e. as of the time the vehicle is handed over to the customer) are not taken into account.

Audi x Milan Design Week

From 6 to 13 June 2022, Audi will participate in the world’s largest designer furniture fair for the eighth time. This year, the fair will be staged under the banner “Design Re-Generation.” Socio-ecological change and responsible design will be the focus at the Audi House of Progress on Piazza Cordusio in the heart of Milan. The subject of fascinating panel discussions on site, “re-generation” will also come to life through the concept vehicles on display, such as the Audi grandsphere concept¹. One highlight will be the fruits of a collaboration between Audi and Italian furniture designer Poliform, showcased in the shape of a completely new interior approach for the Audi urbansphere concept¹.

The “Re-generation: the future of progress” vision will be brought to life at the Audi House of Progress. Visitors can learn about the three pillars through various exhibits and panel discussions.

Re-generate our society

Re-generating society involves promoting diversity and inclusion. For Audi, social responsibility and the carmaker’s special commitment to its employees are the linchpin. The Group champions equal opportunities regardless of race, gender identity, sexual orientation or other characteristics and has, for instance, introduced the use of gender-sensitive language in their German-language communications – both in-house and with customers. Audi firmly believes that diversity fosters creativity, drives innovation and contributes to better decision-making and performance.

Re-generate our lives

The third pillar revolves around the people-centric approach Audi takes when developing new products, services and solutions. Audi views the future as a space for ideas, knowledge sharing and innovation. Changing mobility needs are the core focus. Looking ahead, the journey travelled will be less important. Instead, a vehicle will become a sanctuary from busy everyday life, with a spacious interior and high-tech features transforming it into a setting that adapts to its occupants’ individual needs.
